Job Description
The Project Finance Manager will support the structuring, execution, and management of large-scale carbon removal infrastructure projects, including financial modeling, capital raising, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure successful project development and funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for large-scale infrastructure projects including DAC, CO2 sequestration, and renewable energy.
- Perform scenario analysis, risk assessments, and valuation support for project finance transactions.
- Structure and negotiate project-level financing including equity, debt, grants, guarantees, and blended finance options.
- Support capital raising efforts by preparing investor materials and engaging with public funding programs and partners.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate project configurations, analyze costs, and monitor financial KPIs.
- Contribute to procurement and contracting strategies with financial insights on commercial terms.
- Analyze financial performance of assets under development or operation and benchmark project costs and structures.
- Prepare high-quality reports, analyses, and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, clean energy, or structured finance.
- Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel including IRR, DSCR, cash flow analysis, and sensitivities.
- Proven experience in capital raising and structuring for a variety of large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, and the ability to present to executive stakeholders internally and externally.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality, client-ready materials under tight deadlines.
- Fluent in English; French proficiency is an asset.
- Background in engineering or technical training such as B.Eng., B.Sc. in a relevant field.
- Familiarity with public funding programs in Canada or North America such as EDC, NRCan, CIB.
- Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, or similar.
