The role involves conducting inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems, primarily using thermography and drone technology, to ensure the reliability and safety of solar assets across various sites, with extensive travel required.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thermographic, drone sUAS, visual inspections, and evaluations of solar PV systems at site locations.
Generate detailed inspection reports, maintain documentation, and organize inspection data.
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on solar PV systems, including electrical testing and system analysis.
Assist in planning daily activities and respond to major storms or natural disasters to support regional teams.
Train new team members in safety procedures and thermography use, and become a subject matter expert in thermographic analysis of PV systems.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of Solar PV or Drone UAV experience.
At least 1 year of experience in solar PV construction or maintenance, including DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, monitoring, civil, and racking installation.
Experience with testing equipment such as thermographic electrical inspection tools, IV curve tracing devices, megohmmeters, and ground fault detection tools.
Proficient in the use of thermography with electrical systems.
Level 1 ITC Thermography certification holder (preferred but not mandatory).
Strong understanding of Solar PV systems, including electrical and solar module components.
Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
Proficiency in thermographic editing analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficient in the use of computers and technology, especially in managing large amounts of data.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal oversight.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Technological aptitude and adaptability.
Valid Driver’s License.
Willingness to achieve FAA 14CFR Part 107 certification within 30 days of employment.
OSHA 10-Hour Training Certification.
Willingness to travel extensively, approximately 50% of the time.
Primarily field-based work with extensive travel, requiring compliance with all safety standards and PPE requirements such as hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, and walk for 8-12 hours per day.
Availability to work Monday through Friday and occasionally on weekends.
Willingness to travel overnight and for extended durations.
Capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
