The Project Accountant is responsible for managing accounting functions for various solar project entities, including financial reporting, account reconciliations, and fund operations, to support investor and management reporting within a purpose-driven renewable energy company.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all accounting functions for Fund- and Project-level entities, including accounts receivable, cash payments, lease accounting, debt service, and fixed asset accounting.
Prepare and post complex journal entries across various accounts such as cash, prepaids, accrued expenses, deferred revenue, fixed assets, leases, debt, and equity.
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly and record intercompany activity including payables, receivables, investments, and lease payments.
Support the preparation of quarterly financial statements and monthly financial reports for third-party compliance.
Manage fund flow requests, maintain accurate records of fund activity, and support investor and lender reporting with schedules and analysis.
Assist with audit inquiries, prepare supporting documentation, and coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, including SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas
Experience with NetSuite accounting software
Ability to perform full cycle accounting functions within assigned entities, including maintenance of accounts receivable, management of cash payments, lease accounting, debt service, fixed asset accounting, calculation of preferred returns for investors, financial account reconciliations, and various other cash and reporting activities
Ability to prepare and post complex journal entries across cash, prepaids, accrued expenses, deferred revenue, fixed assets, leases, debt, interest rate swaps, and equity
Ability to reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
Ability to record and reconcile intercompany activity payables, receivables, investments, and lease payments
Ability to prepare and understand eliminating journal entries and consolidated financial statements
Experience managing fund flow requests and maintaining accurate records of fund activity
Ability to support investor and lender reporting with accurate, timely schedules and analysis
Assist with audit inquiries, prepare supporting documentation, and coordinate directly with external auditors throughout the annual audit process
