Job Description
The Field Service Technician at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on utility-scale solar PV systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of solar assets across multiple sites, primarily through travel within the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance activities on solar PV systems, including testing and troubleshooting of DC and AC components
- Conduct on-site service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar photovoltaic facilities
- Maintain tools, meters, vehicles, and spare parts inventory
- Create service reports and document system operability and downtime issues
- Identify and eliminate safety hazards during maintenance activities
- Respond to emergency repair cases and on-call support as directed
Requirements
- NABCEP Certified Installation Professional certification
- 3-4 years of experience in PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring
- Experience with operation of SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems
- Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, IV Curve Tracing, Meggers, Ground Fault Detection
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct problems in PV systems
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design construction practices
- Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams
- Proficiency with MS Office suite
- Valid Driver's License
- OSHA 10 HR Training
- NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace
- Ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends
- Physical ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Understanding of and adherence to safety and quality procedures and practices
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures, including PPE such as hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, hearing protection
- Ability to create service reports and maintain spare parts inventory
- Ability to identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards
- Ability to respond on-call for emergencies as directed by supervisor
- Ability to work in the field and in the office, with regular in-person presence on site
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, with the role being 100% travel-based, deploying to project sites based on business and project needs
