Job Description
The Field Service Technician at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on utility-scale solar PV systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of solar assets across project sites, primarily through travel within the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of solar PV systems on-site
- Conduct DC and AC testing, including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding, communication, insulation resistance, and I-V curve tracing
- Maintain service reports, spare parts inventory, and create operability and downtime reports
- Identify and eliminate safety hazards in the work environment
- Respond to emergency service cases and on-call support as directed
- Maintain tools, meters, vehicles, and truck stock in good condition
Requirements
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
- Ability to travel and work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.
- Must have the ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Must have at least 3-4 years of experience in PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring.
- Experience with operation of SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems.
- Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, IV Curve Tracing, Meggers, Ground Fault Detection.
- Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found in PV systems.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and standard design construction practices.
- Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Must have OSHA 10 HR Training.
- Must have NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace certification.
- Preferred NABCEP Certified Installation Professional.
- Physical ability to perform work in the field and in the office, including adherence to safety and quality procedures.
- Ability to create service reports and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Ability to identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations and create operability and major issue downtime reports.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup atmosphere with strong teamwork and dedication to detailed execution.
