Job Description

The Director of Origination at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with market participants and customers to source, structure, and negotiate offtake agreements for renewable energy projects, supporting the company's growth in solar and storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with market participants and end-users.
  • Source, structure, and negotiate offtake agreements including PPAs, Utility RFPs, and bilateral contracts.
  • Develop and execute origination strategies targeting large load customers with holistic power solutions.
  • Support the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of long-term PPAs, VPPAs, and innovative commercial structures.
  • Lead pricing, structuring, and negotiation of offtake agreements with customers.
  • Represent the company in bilateral meetings and industry events to promote offerings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project development and commercial objectives.
  • Stay informed on market trends and regulatory developments impacting renewable energy opportunities.

Requirements

  • Experience originating and negotiating bilateral, term transactions in organized power markets.
  • Experience trading within U.S. regional transmission organizations (RTOs) or independent system operators (ISOs).
  • Significant regulatory or commercial experience with available green tariffs.
  • Experience supplying load or buying as an end-user.
  • Six plus years of experience with a renewable developer, power marketing firm, corporate energy end-user, utility, or consultant with direct customer engagement experience.
  • Experience structuring bilateral offtake transactions.
  • High level of fluency in PPA document language, key terms, and ability to structure and negotiate these terms.
  • Knowledge of experience with datacenter power procurement and relationships in this space is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of U.S. energy markets, RTO operations, and electric transmission.
  • Knowledge of the physical transmission system and long-term procurement required to enable generation projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area.
  • Experience leading contractual analysis and proposal submissions.
  • Demonstrated ability to originate, structure, negotiate, and implement PPAs coordinating with customers, internal stakeholders, and external advisors.
  • Ability to identify and formulate risk management strategies for various offtake structures.
  • Strong commercial capabilities to balance customer and business needs.
  • Professional presence and excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of renewable generation technology, especially solar and battery storage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
