Job Description
The Director of Origination at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with market participants and customers to source, structure, and negotiate renewable energy offtake agreements such as PPAs and VPPAs, supporting the company's growth in solar and storage projects across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with market participants and end-users.
- Source, structure, and negotiate offtake agreements including PPAs, Utility RFPs, and bilateral contracts.
- Develop and execute origination strategies focused on power solutions for large load customers.
- Support the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of long-term PPAs, VPPAs, and commercial structures.
- Identify customer opportunities and lead pricing, structuring, and negotiations of offtake agreements.
- Represent the company in bilateral meetings and industry events.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project development and commercial efforts.
Requirements
- Experience originating and negotiating bilateral, term transactions in organized power markets.
- Experience trading within U.S. regional transmission organizations (RTOs) or independent system operators (ISOs).
- Significant regulatory or commercial experience with available green tariffs.
- Experience supplying load or buying as an end-user.
- Six plus years of experience with a renewable developer, power marketing firm, corporate energy end-user, utility, or consultant with direct customer engagement experience.
- Experience structuring bilateral offtake transactions.
- High level of fluency in PPA document language, key terms, and ability to structure and negotiate these terms.
- Knowledge of experience with datacenter power procurement and relationships in this space.
- Knowledge of U.S. energy markets, RTO operations, and electric transmission.
- Knowledge of the physical transmission system and long-term procurement required to enable generation projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area.
- Experience leading contractual analysis and proposal submissions.
- Demonstrated ability to originate, structure, negotiate, and implement PPAs coordinating with customers, internal stakeholders, and external advisors.
- Ability to identify and formulate risk management strategies for various offtake structures.
- Strong commercial capabilities to balance customer and business needs.
- Professional presence and excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of renewable generation technology, especially solar and battery storage.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
