The position involves leading the development and transaction processes for utility-scale solar and storage projects, managing cross-functional teams, and driving policy and market strategies to support renewable energy project success throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the project development team to achieve solar and storage project goals.
Drive the development, negotiation, and closure of project transactions including land agreements, interconnection, tax agreements, and PPAs.
Oversee due diligence processes for project sites and counterparties.
Collaborate with internal teams (Origination, Policy, Engineering, Structured Finance) to develop and execute market strategies.
Support EPC contracting, late-stage project sequencing, and construction oversight.
Analyze regulations, market economics, and data to inform business planning and development strategies.
Engage with policy and regulatory initiatives to support market access and revenue generation.
Requirements
Minimum of 7 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with at least 2 years of experience developing projects in liquid markets.
Demonstrated success in developing renewable energy projects across the entire project lifecycle.
A 4-year degree is required; an MBA or other relevant master's degree is valued.
Deep understanding of the policy, regulatory, and competitive dynamics that drive revenue and market access in renewable energy markets.
Ability to synthesize complex risks and opportunities into succinct and actionable directions.
Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and accountability.
Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
Strong communication skills and financial acumen to drive complex deals to closure.
Experience managing and collaborating with internal and external resources in structuring, negotiating, and closing project transactions including land agreements, interconnection, tax agreements, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Experience originating, leading, or managing due diligence on projects, sites, and counterparties for acquisition projects.
Ability to analyze and interpret regulations, power economics, input prices, and other data by market to inform business planning and development strategy.
Experience supporting EPC contracting, late-stage project sequencing, and supporting EPCM teams during construction.
Experience driving policy and regulation initiatives and working with policy and strategy teams to execute policy priorities at the market level and legislative work.
Ability to interact with different types of generation resources, including firm generation, and understand load interconnection processes.
Experience engaging with data centers as part of project development.
Willingness to relocate or be located in Asheville, NC or New York City, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office.
Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment and make progress toward corporate goals.
Physical and mental capacity to support hands-on project development activities and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
