Job Description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that repair and overhaul processes meet industry, customer, and regulatory standards through process evaluation, technical review, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives within an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure procedures and processes meet quality standards throughout the repair overhaul lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Investigate customer concerns and warranty issues, documenting findings and corrective actions.
  • Lead and conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process non-conformances.
  • Review and validate work instructions and technical drawings to ensure OEM and regulatory compliance.
  • Sponsor and implement continuous process and procedure improvements using problem-solving tools and data analysis.
  • Provide technical support for specific aerospace products and processes such as welding, machining, and thermal spray.
  • Act as an authorized representative to determine airworthiness and sign maintenance release and certification documents.
  • Coordinate employee training to ensure qualification and certification per industry standards and FAA requirements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field with an emphasis in quality preferred.
  • A minimum of five years experience in the field of quality or engineering in the aerospace industry with an emphasis on compliance to domestic and international civil aviation regulations.
  • A minimum of three years shop environment exposure with a general knowledge of processes used in manufacturing.
  • Previous experience and participation in continuous improvement, corrective action and preventative action programs.
  • Previous participation in performing internal and external vendor audits.
  • ASQ certification CQA and or CQE preferred.
  • A demonstrated level of competence in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint including the ability to use basic data processing software and construct general reports.
  • Read, speak and write in English.
  • Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and production departments to ensure processes meet industry and regulatory standards in repair overhaul of components.
  • Investigate customer concerns and warranty considerations while compiling technical reports documenting investigation findings and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Lead, conduct and issue corrective actions in process non-conformance using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Review and validate work instructions and technical drawings to ensure they meet OEM and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as an authorized representative of the repair station to determine airworthiness of products and sign maintenance release and material certification documents.
  • Coordinate training to assure the qualification and certification of employees per company or industry standards as defined by FAA approved overhaul procedures and company policy procedures manual.
