Job Description
The Process Engineer - Weld is responsible for evaluating, developing, and improving welding processes for turbine engine components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, providing technical support, and leading process and safety initiatives within an aerospace repair environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate engine components and weld processes for compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Solve weld process problems and improve processes for quality and efficiency.
- Review and develop weld repairs, programs, and procedures for approval and implementation.
- Provide technical support to sales and production teams.
- Ensure testing and quality requirements are met for weld processes.
- Design and modify tooling and fixtures for repair processes.
- Train employees and lead meetings to ensure qualification and certification standards are maintained.
- Procure materials, equipment, and supplies related to repair processes.
- Communicate with departments regarding process improvements and facility needs.
Requirements
- Must have advanced knowledge in welding and other manufacturing processes.
- Must have a two four-year technical degree (such as BS in Chemistry, Materials, Welding, Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent industry experience.
- Must be able to comprehend complex technical information.
- Must have communication skills at college level reading, writing, and conversational English.
- Must have the ability to organize and maintain records.
- Must have a general understanding of all internal systems at CRT after the trial and orientation period.
- Must have turbine engine component repair experience (preferred but not mandatory).
- Must have a general knowledge of civil aviation regulations, engine overhaul manuals, and other process manuals used to repair turbine engine components.
- Must be able to work overtime, generally between 45-50 hours per week.
- Must follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
- Must pass pre-employment testing requirements, which may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
