Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for tracking, organizing, and moving parts through the repair process in a modern aerospace manufacturing facility, supporting production control and ensuring timely delivery of components. The role involves physical tasks, inventory management, and working as part of a team to maintain efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Track parts through repair processes and manage their staging and storage
- Assist with delivering parts to other departments and external couriers
- Organize and verify staging areas and part information
- Use electronic tracking systems, including RFID technology, for part identification and location
- Provide and manage equipment like skids, carts, and racks based on departmental needs
- Coordinate shipping, receiving, and part movement to ensure timely processing
- Assist with scrapping parts and verifying documentation
- Maintain safety protocols and proper handling of parts and tools
- Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and control personnel to maintain scheduling and inventory accuracy
Requirements
- One year's experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.
- Experience in the use of skids, pallet jacks, and forklifts lift trucks.
- Ability or experience following directions and reading work instructions.
- High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks.
- Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Pre-employment testing requirements that may include fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
- Work in difficult positions from time to time, including standing and/or sitting for portions of the shift.
- Move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
- Use powered and non-powered hand tools frequently.
