Job Description
The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, validating, and operating Coordinate Measuring Machine programs to ensure precise dimensional inspection of aerospace turbine engine components, supporting quality standards and engineering requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and execute CMM inspection programs based on engineering drawings, OEM specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Set up and operate CMM equipment to verify the dimensional accuracy of aerospace components during all manufacturing phases.
- Perform complex dimensional inspections and generate detailed measurement reports for internal review.
- Interpret and apply GD&T to ensure accurate measurement of critical features, profiles, and datums.
- Validate CMM programs for accuracy, repeatability, and measurement reliability.
- Maintain CMM calibration, probe libraries, and machine readiness, ensuring accurate inspection records.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and other departments to resolve dimensional discrepancies and support troubleshooting.
- Recommend improvements in tooling, fixturing, measurement methods, and inspection strategies.
- Perform manual dimensional inspections to verify CMM results when necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of three years experience in CMM programming and dimensional inspection in aerospace, precision machining or related manufacturing.
- Experience as a metrologist with demonstrated knowledge of establishing, maintaining, and improving measurement standards, calibrating precision instruments, developing measurement methods for high-tolerance parts, and ensuring measurements comply with industry, regulatory, and quality standards.
- A background of inspecting turbine engine components, rotating parts, or complex geometries.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
