Job Description
The Sr. Manager/Director of Data Centers is responsible for leading end-to-end development projects for large-scale data center facilities, including site selection, design, permitting, and utility coordination, with a focus on integrating renewable energy resources and ensuring project success within the energy infrastructure sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end management of data center development projects, including site selection, design, permitting, and utility coordination
- Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines and financial targets
- Coordinate with external partners such as architects, engineers, and contractors to meet project requirements
- Evaluate potential sites for new data center development, assessing infrastructure, risks, and regulatory considerations
- Ensure data center designs are optimized for integration with generation assets and develop facility layouts
- Manage permitting processes and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and building regulations
- Negotiate energy supply agreements to secure reliable and cost-effective power for data centers
- Collaborate with energy markets, utilities, and consultants to develop sustainable energy solutions and ensure proper infrastructure integration
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years in project management within the energy and infrastructure sectors.
- Proven experience in interconnection, energy markets, and substation infrastructure is required.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with interconnection processes, energy market dynamics, and substation infrastructure.
- Ability to leverage knowledge of interconnection, energy markets, and substation infrastructure to guide project execution and resource allocation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not mandatory; extensive experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Ability to work out of a Copia hub location a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
