The Senior Scientist ARC Plasma Instrumentation will lead efforts to identify and develop plasma measurement techniques for the ARC fusion power plant, focusing on diagnostics suitable for harsh thermal and radiological environments, and collaborating with R&D teams to advance instrumentation technologies for future fusion reactors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead efforts to identify necessary plasma measurements for plant control in the ARC fusion power plant.
Determine the minimum set of measurements and instruments required for the power plant's operation.
Collaborate with R&D teams to develop novel diagnostic techniques suitable for thermal and radiological environments.
Design, build, and operate fusion diagnostics to explore measurement technologies for future power plants.
Requirements
Experience designing, building, and operating fusion diagnostics.
Experience in leading efforts to scope out necessary measurements in plasma for plant control.
Ability to determine the minimum necessary set of measurements and instruments for a power plant.
Experience working with technologies suitable for operation in thermal and radiological environments inside a tokamak.
Experience working closely with R&D teams to determine necessary research and development for plasma instrumentation.
Interest in exploring a breadth of measurements and technologies for future fusion power plants.
