Job Description

The Subassemblies Specialist is responsible for assembling and ensuring the quality of high-precision, ultra-high vacuum components for the SPARC Tokamak, with opportunities to transition into installing these subassemblies into the machine to support the development of fusion energy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble precision, ultra high vacuum subassemblies for the SPARC Tokamak, including high power RF antennas, plasma facing components, port plugs, error field correction coils, vertical stability coils, and plasma diagnostics.
  • Perform quality checks and ensure meticulous attention to detail during the assembly of critical parts.
  • Streamline workflows and improve assembly processes based on technical experience.
  • Install completed subassemblies into the Tokamak and transition to machine assembly.
  • Ensure all assemblies are built on schedule and meet high-quality standards to support the development of fusion energy.

Requirements

  • Possess technical experience building complex systems, with the ability to ensure high build quality and meticulous attention to detail in assembly of high precision, ultra high vacuum subassemblies.
  • Ability to draw upon years of technical experience to help streamline workflows and deliver high-quality parts.
  • Experience with assembling systems such as high power RF antennas, plasma facing components, port plugs, error field correction coils, vertical stability coils, and plasma diagnostics.
  • Willingness and ability to be the last set of hands and eyes on critical parts during assembly, ensuring precision and quality.
  • Capability to transition from subassembly work to installing subassemblies into the SPARC Tokamak and subsequently to the assembly of the machine.
  • Compliance with U.S. laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information, specifically Export Control Laws.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment driven by values of integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique.
