Job Description
The Senior Director of Facilities, Maintenance, and Construction is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and expansion of company facilities, including strategic planning and managing teams and external partners to support Commonwealth Fusion Systems' mission to develop fusion energy technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee operations of existing facilities and manage construction of new facilities locally and internationally.
- Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans for facilities to support company expansion and energy projects.
- Manage teams of facilities maintenance professionals, project managers, space planners, and external contractors.
- Coordinate with local and state officials, property developers, general contractors, architects, and environmental experts.
Requirements
- Experience in strategic planning and tactical operation of facilities, including existing facilities management and new construction projects.
- Proven ability to manage a collaborative team of facilities maintenance professionals, project managers, space planners, and outside contracting firms.
- Experience in operating, maintaining, and building offices and industrial factory space.
- Ability to interact with local and state officials, property developers, general contractors, architects, and civil environmental experts as a key public-facing representative.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing facilities operations for a company with ambitious plans to build clean fusion energy or similar high-tech infrastructure.
- Experience in overseeing construction of facilities both locally (Massachusetts) and for future national and international expansion.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for facilities and construction projects.
- Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of compliance with U.S. laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information (Export Control Laws).
