Job Description
The R D Operational Testing Lead is responsible for leading a team in testing superconducting magnets, maintaining and building test stand hardware, and performing hands-on operational and maintenance tasks to ensure efficient and reliable testing processes in support of fusion energy development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of operators to execute tests on superconducting magnets and maintain test stand operations.
- Perform hands-on work including building, servicing, and repairing cryogenic, electrical, high-vacuum, and chilled water systems.
- Prioritize daily shift operations to ensure high throughput and operational efficiency of test stands.
- Perform preventative maintenance to keep test stands operational.
- Build out and improve test stand hardware and infrastructure.
- Operate test stands on-console to support magnet performance verification.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency of test stand operations.
Requirements
- Experience in leading a team of operators in a fast-paced environment, including prioritizing daily shift operations to maintain high throughput in testing processes.
- Hands-on experience with build, servicing, and repair of cryogenic systems, electrical systems, high-vacuum systems, and chilled water systems.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on production test stands to ensure their operational readiness.
- Experience with on-console operation of test stands in support of magnet performance verification.
- Technical skills in building out new test stand hardware.
- Strong understanding of testing critical superconducting magnets or similar high-tech equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform troubleshooting and repair of complex systems related to cryogenics, electrical, vacuum, or chilled water systems.
- Ability to work in compliance with U.S. export control laws concerning controlled or protected technologies or information.
- Willingness to work onsite at CFS facilities.
