Job Description

A Metrology Technician is responsible for performing advanced laser scanning and CMM inspections to support the production and assembly of fusion hardware, ensuring high-quality data collection, troubleshooting, and process documentation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced laser scanning and CMM inspections to support production and assembly.
  • Generate high-quality scan and inspection data for validation, troubleshooting, and maintaining production schedules.
  • Develop, validate, and deploy inspection methods for complex hardware.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure hardware meets performance and reliability standards.
  • Define inspection strategies and tooling, document methods, and present inspection results.
  • Continuously improve metrology processes to support manufacturing and engineering needs.

Requirements

  • Experience performing advanced laser scanning and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspections in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to generate high-quality scan and inspection data to support validation, troubleshooting, and production processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and to cross-train within Quality Control.
  • Experience developing, validating, and deploying inspection methods for highly engineered hardware.
  • Ability to work hands-on with complex parts and advanced measurement systems.
  • Experience partnering with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Quality, and R&D teams to ensure hardware meets performance and reliability requirements.
  • Ability to solve ambiguous measurement problems and communicate clearly across disciplines.
  • Proficiency in building repeatable measurement processes that can scale.
  • Ownership of inspection strategy and tooling, including defining methods, documenting procedures, and presenting results.
  • Ability to continuously improve metrology support for production and engineering teams.
  • Compliance with U.S. export control laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information.
