Job Description
A hands-on Manufacturing Engineer responsible for overseeing weekend production operations of high-temperature superconducting magnets in a pioneering, first-of-a-kind manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and process standardization during off-hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure safe and efficient production of high-temperature superconducting magnets during weekend shifts.
- Serve as the technical lead for weekend manufacturing operations, addressing novel problems and maintaining process standards.
- Develop and implement standardized, repeatable processes in a first-of-a-kind manufacturing environment.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to maintain continuous production and resolve technical issues during off-hours.
Requirements
- The candidate must be a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer capable of leading weekend operations and serving as the technical anchor for the 4th Shift, ensuring safe and efficient production of high-temperature superconducting magnets when the weekday engineering team is offline.
- The candidate must have experience working in a First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) manufacturing environment where the product is being designed while the machine is being built, and be able to turn first encounters with novel problems into standardized, repeatable processes.
- The candidate must be able to work the specified shift schedule, which includes Friday through Monday with shifts from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm on Friday and Monday, 6:00 am to 6:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday, or alternatively, a schedule with Friday 9:00 am to 7:30 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, and Monday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, with 10-hour shifts.
- The candidate must be able to work on-site at Commonwealth Fusion Systems.
- The candidate must have the ability to bring order to chaotic, novel manufacturing problems and develop standardized, repeatable processes.
- The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment driven by values of integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique.
- The candidate must be compliant with U.S. export control laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information, and any employment offer will be contingent upon compliance with these laws.
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of $100,000 - $160,000 including 10% shift differential
Work schedule with 10-hour shifts, providing 3 consecutive days off (Tuesday and Thursday)
