Job Description
The Instrument and Control Valve Commissioning Technician is responsible for installing, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting sensing and control equipment across various process systems, including cryogenic, vacuum, and gas systems, to support the commissioning of fusion energy plant components.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, and commission sensing and control equipment for various process systems.
- Test and troubleshoot instrumentation and control valves from multiple manufacturers.
- Work with equipment involving cryogenic temperatures, ultra-high vacuum, gases, and radiation monitoring.
- Integrate component interfaces with hardwired connections and communication protocols such as Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, and BacNET.
Requirements
- Experience in installation, calibration, commissioning testing, and troubleshooting of sensing and control equipment for a variety of components from multiple different manufacturers.
- Knowledge of process systems including cooling water, HVAC, cryogenic fluids, ultra-high vacuum, various types of gases, and radiation monitoring.
- Experience working with equipment types such as temperature sensors, flow sensors, level sensors, air operated valves, sensors that measure cryogenic temperatures as low as 8 Kelvin, vacuum systems in the micro-Torr range, and flow control devices like piezo control valves.
- Ability to interface with component systems using hardwired connections, Profibus DP and PA, Profinet, Modbus, BacNET, and possibly other communication protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments and comply with safety and operational standards.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States and compliance with U.S. export control laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information.
