The Instrument and Control Valve Commissioning Technician is responsible for installing, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting sensing and control equipment across various process systems, including cryogenic, vacuum, and gas systems, to support the operation of fusion energy facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Install, calibrate, and commission sensing and control equipment for various process systems.
Test and troubleshoot instrumentation and control valves from multiple manufacturers.
Work with equipment measuring cryogenic temperatures, vacuums, and flow control devices.
Integrate component interfaces using hardwired connections and communication protocols such as Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, and BacNET.
Requirements
Experience in installation, calibration, commissioning testing, and troubleshooting of sensing and control equipment for a variety of components from multiple manufacturers.
Knowledge of process systems including cooling water, HVAC, cryogenic fluids, ultra-high vacuum, various types of gases, and radiation monitoring.
Experience working with equipment such as temperature, flow, and level sensors, air operated valves, sensors measuring cryogenic temperatures as low as 8 Kelvin, vacuum systems in the micro-Torr range, and flow control using piezo control valves.
Ability to interface with component systems using hardwired connections, Profibus DP and PA, Profinet, Modbus, BacNET, and possibly other communication protocols.
Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments and comply with U.S. export control laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information.
Possession of relevant technical skills related to instrumentation and control systems, including installation, calibration, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of sensing and control equipment.
Ability to work onsite at the CFS facility.
