The Director of Project Development will lead the planning, permitting, and execution of the first grid-scale commercial fusion power plant, overseeing site development, securing approvals, and establishing a pipeline of future projects to bring fusion energy to the grid by the early 2030s.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic plans to deliver grid-scale commercial fusion power plants by the early 2030s.
Manage all aspects of the project schedule, including securing permits and approvals for construction.
Coordinate with internal teams, third-party consultants, engineers, lawyers, and partners to overcome obstacles and ensure project success.
Establish a pipeline of viable sites for future fusion power plant development.
Build positive public support at local and regional levels for project sites.
Requirements
Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans to deliver fusion power plants or similar large-scale energy infrastructure projects with a focus on grid-scale commercial deployment by the early 2030s.
Proven ability to manage all aspects of project schedules, including securing all permits and approvals required to begin construction on schedule and within budget.
Demonstrated experience working closely with internal teams, third-party consultants, engineers, lawyers, and external allies to overcome obstacles and ensure positive project outcomes.
Experience in establishing a predictable pipeline of viable sites for future development of large-scale energy projects, including securing positive public support at local and regional levels.
Strong understanding of the regulatory, permitting, and approval processes related to energy infrastructure development.
Ability to develop and deliver the first grid-scale commercial fusion power plant, including managing project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder engagement.
Compliance with U.S. laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information, including the ability to adhere to Export Control Laws.
At least several years of experience in project development, permitting, or related roles in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
A track record of working in fast-paced environments with a focus on integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique.
