Job Description
The Solar Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing solar PV systems to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operation of solar power plants, with varying responsibilities based on experience level.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, maintain, service, and repair solar PV systems and associated equipment.
- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on PV solar equipment.
- Operate electrical and mechanical systems of the solar power plant.
- Execute electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, and complex system repairs.
- Complete work orders and ensure work complies with safety and environmental standards.
Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or GED, or be willing to obtain a GED within the first 6 months of employment.
- Demonstrable mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge.
- Understanding of general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards, as well as help the company improve upon the standards in place.
- Ability to operate a computer with technical proficiency of standard business software.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license and have a good driving record, and be able to drive a company vehicle.
- Ability to work overtime and non-standard working hours including nights, holidays, and weekends when needed.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-tasking team.
- At least 1 year of experience in a power plant or PV Solar operations and maintenance (O&M), EPC experience, or equivalent field experience with significant electrical, instrumentation, and control (I E, I C, C I) knowledge for Level II.
- At least 4 years of PV solar experience, with proven experience in electrical or mechanical fundamentals, Journeyman skills such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid state theory application, and knowledge of complex analog and digital instrumentation and control systems for Level III.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals, electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid state theory application.
- Knowledge of complex analog and digital instrumentation and control systems.
- Proper methods for troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting instruments and control systems.
- Experience administering safe methods to clear equipment, use of tools, and plant safety rules.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical prints and PV solar plant terminology and nomenclature.
- Qualified to perform routine and emergency operations at a solar generation facility and switchyard.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
- Able to work without direct supervision during performance of work.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 5% as required.

Salary range from $54,000 to $107,000 depending on experience and location
