Job Description
The Development Engineering Intern will support the development and engineering of utility-scale wind projects, assisting with project scope, design review, contract negotiations, site analysis, and process improvements to help advance renewable energy projects from conception to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of utility-scale Wind projects from intermediate to advanced stages.
- Review and analyze engineering deliverables, scope, costs, schedules, and risks with contractors and developers.
- Assist in reviewing and negotiating technical aspects of EPC contracts and interconnect agreements.
- Coordinate with teams and external consultants to deliver preliminary designs, site plans, equipment layouts, and cost estimates.
- Conduct site-specific environmental and buildable area analyses using GIS tools.
- Develop scope of work documents and automate review processes for site reports and surveys.
- Integrate visualization tools with cost estimating models to produce accurate project cost estimates.
- Generate and maintain project reports, resource forecasts, and dashboards for project status updates.
- Review energy models to identify deviations and support wind project cost estimation and optimization.
- Participate in developing value engineering items and technology assessments to improve project margins.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or Management in Engineering or Construction, with at least junior standing.
- Basic understanding of wind energy project scope, key equipment, and fundamental awareness of core engineering principles associated with solar and stationary storage projects.
- Advanced MS Office and Excel skills.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide objectives.
- Intellectual curiosity and an interest in renewable energy.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including willingness to ask questions, listen to colleagues, and contribute ideas.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and accountable, demonstrating the ability to show up, be present, and eager to dive into the workday.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and take ownership over projects and assignments.
- Willingness to ask questions, speak up, and take initiative in the work environment.
