Job Description
The Senior Associate at CRA's Energy practice conducts research, analysis, and modeling related to power markets, transmission planning, and energy economics, providing data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to clients involved in energy market development, regulation, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage energy market and transmission analysis projects, including resource planning, regulatory policy, and market due diligence
- Operate and maintain nodal production cost and power flow models
- Conduct quantitative analysis such as scenario development, result interpretation, and mitigation option identification
- Develop industry-leading models through research, programming, and vetting
- Create presentations and reports to communicate complex findings to clients
- Present findings effectively to senior and mid-level client staff
- Oversee junior staff in report and analysis production
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of professional experience in markets and transmission planning space, power flow analysis, nodal production cost analysis, and assessment of congestion basis-risk across Eastern RTO markets.
- Two (2) or more years of professional experience directly managing or leading the work of others.
- Three (3) years of fluency in power flow assessment packages such as PowerGEM TARA, GE-PSLF, PSS-E, or PowerWorld.
- Three (3) years of fluency in nodal production cost models such as PROMOD, Aurora, Plexos, or Gridview.
- Knowledge of RTO and regional planning authority planning processes, including interconnection rules, and regional reliability planning processes for PJM, MISO, and SPP.
- Excellent presentation skills and writing ability.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to provide mentorship and supervision to junior staff members.
- Strong project management and client engagement skills.

Salary range of $130,000 - $152,500 with potential bonus incentive compensation
