Job Description
The role involves providing economic analysis and expert testimony on competition policy, mergers, and regulatory matters, working closely with clients, legal teams, and industry experts to support complex cases in a collaborative, research-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide economic analyses of mergers and competition matters before major authorities
- Develop and present client deliverables including expert reports and recommendations
- Design and conceptualize complex economic and financial models to analyze data
- Oversee statistical analysis using tools like Stata, SAS, R, or Python
- Manage research processes and supervise, train, and mentor team members
- Communicate sophisticated economic analyses clearly in complex cases
- Collaborate with academics, attorneys, and clients on finance, strategy, and economics issues
- Drive practice-building activities such as training, recruiting, and publication
Requirements
- Good first degree in economics and a postgraduate degree qualification MSc, MPhil, or PhD from well-regarded institutions with focused study in economics or a related specialization such as microeconomics, industrial organization, and/or statistics or econometrics.
- Extensive and relevant experience of 10 years in competition policy economic consulting or related fields.
- Fluency in English.
- Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, competition regulatory authorities, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
- Experience managing and developing teams of junior colleagues.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Experience managing client relationships and conducting extensive client interactions, including revenue creation.
- Ability to independently conceptualize and identify issues, design complex economic and financial models to analyze economic and financial data, and oversee analysis in statistical analysis programs such as Stata, SAS, R, or Python.
- Willingness to work in a flexible work environment, spending at least 3 to 4 days a week in the office, including travel to other CRA offices or client meetings as coordinated with the team.
