Job Description

The role involves providing economic analysis and expert testimony on competition law matters, including mergers and regulatory investigations, working closely with clients, legal teams, and industry experts to develop and communicate complex economic insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide economic analyses of mergers and competition matters before major authorities
  • Develop and present client deliverables including expert reports and opinions
  • Design and implement complex economic and financial models to analyze data
  • Oversee statistical analysis using tools like Stata, SAS, R, or Python
  • Manage research processes and supervise, train, and mentor team members
  • Communicate complex economic concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders
  • Contribute to practice development activities such as training, recruiting, and publications

Requirements

  • Good first degree in economics and a postgraduate degree qualification MSc, MPhil, or PhD from well-regarded institutions with focused study in economics or a related specialization such as microeconomics, industrial organization, and/or statistics or econometrics.
  • Extensive and relevant experience of 10 years in competition policy economic consulting or related fields.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, competition regulatory authorities, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
  • Experience managing and developing teams of junior colleagues.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to independently conceptualize and identify issues, design complex economic and financial models to analyze economic and financial data, and oversee analysis in statistical analysis programs such as Stata, SAS, R, or Python.
  • Experience in conducting research in a team-oriented environment and acting as a primary point of contact for clients, including shaping, developing, and presenting client deliverables such as expert reports, opinions, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Ability to manage the research process, supervise, train, and mentor teams, and ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions.
  • Experience in managing multiple cases involving economic analysis of mergers and competition matters before major competition authorities or courts.
  • Proven revenue creation and extensive executive client presence with interaction skills.
  • Willingness to work at least 3 to 4 days per week in the office, with flexibility for travel to other CRA offices or client meetings as coordinated with the team.
