Job Description
This internship offers a hands-on experience working as an economist at Charles River Associates, involving economic analysis, data modeling, and client deliverables across various industries, with a focus on competition policy and regulation in Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify potential issues and conduct analyses to support economic arguments
- Assemble evidence from data and research to support expert opinions and recommendations
- Program, build models, and perform regression analyses using statistical software such as Stata, Python, or R
- Assist in developing and presenting client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers
- Communicate complex economic concepts clearly to internal teams
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
Requirements
- Master's or PhD/DPhil candidates studying economics with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialisation in industrial economics and or econometrics
- Fluency in English
- High degree of numeracy and the ability to manipulate data
- Some research experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership
- Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities
- Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills
- Clear and demonstrated interest in consulting through coursework, work experience, or activities
- Ability to identify potential issues and conduct analyses that can be used to illustrate economic arguments
- Ability to assemble compelling evidence from data and research that support expert opinions and business recommendations
- Ability to program, build models, and perform regression analyses in statistical analysis programs such as Stata, Python, R, including large data projects requiring use of cloud computing
- Assist in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers summarising opinions, conclusions, and recommendations using financial, market, industry or client-proprietary data
- Communicate complicated economic concepts and arguments to internal teams in an understandable, accessible manner
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions
