The role involves providing economic analysis and expertise in competition policy and regulation, supporting major competition cases in Europe through modeling, data analysis, and client communication, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to practice development.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and conceptualize economic issues using rigorous models and data analysis
Supervise, train, and mentor research staff
Develop and present client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers
Act as a primary contact for clients, including lawyers and industry or government representatives
Program, build models, and perform statistical and econometric analyses using software tools
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
Contribute to practice-building activities such as training, recruiting, and publication
Requirements
A good first degree in economics, plus up to 3 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority for the Consulting Associate level.
A PhD or DPhil in economics from well-regarded institutions with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialization in industrial organization or statistics econometrics, and up to 3 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority for the Senior Associate level.
A PhD or DPhil in economics from well-regarded institutions with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialization in industrial organization or statistics econometrics, and 3-5 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority for the Associate Principal level.
A PhD or DPhil in economics from well-regarded institutions with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialization in industrial organization or statistics econometrics, and 3-5 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority for the Associate Principal level.
Fluency in English and French; additional fluency in Dutch and/or German is desirable.
Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, competition regulatory authorities, competition policy, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
