Job Description
The role involves providing economic analysis and expert advice on competition policy, assisting in major competition cases, and developing economic models and reports for clients in a consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and conceptualize economic issues in competition cases
- Specify and develop rigorous economic models to analyze market issues and data
- Conduct statistical and econometric estimation using various software tools
- Manage and supervise research associate staff
- Assist in developing and presenting client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers
- Act as a primary contact for lawyers and clients on practice-relevant issues
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
- Contribute to practice-building activities including training, recruiting, and publication
Requirements
- Possess a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent degree in economics from well-regarded institutions, with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialization in industrial organization or statistics econometrics, or a good first degree in economics with up to 3 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority (for Consulting Associate level).
- Possess a PhD or DPhil in economics from well-regarded institutions, with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialization in industrial organization or statistics econometrics, or a good first degree in economics with up to 3 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority (for Senior Associate level).
- Possess a PhD or DPhil in economics from well-regarded institutions, with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialization in industrial organization or statistics econometrics, or a good first degree in economics with 3-5 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority (for Associate Principal level).
- Have up to 3 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority for Consulting Associate level.
- Have 3-5 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority for Senior Associate level.
- Have 3-5 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority for Associate Principal level.
- Have 5-9 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority for Associate Principal level with a MSc or MPhil degree, or 3-5 years for the same level with a PhD or DPhil degree.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; additional fluency in French is required; fluency in Dutch and/or German is desirable.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of economic concepts, competition regulatory authorities, competition policy, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
- Exhibit exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Show a high level of initiative and leadership capabilities.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Possess excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
