Job Description
The Senior Associate role at Charles River Associates involves working on high-profile competition law cases in Europe, applying economic analysis, statistical and econometric modeling, and providing expert insights to clients while mentoring junior staff and contributing to practice development.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and conceptualize economic issues, developing rigorous models to analyze market data
- Supervise, train, and mentor research staff
- Develop and present client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers
- Act as a primary contact for legal and government clients on practice-relevant issues
- Program, build models, and perform statistical and econometric analyses using various software tools
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
- Contribute to practice development activities such as training, recruiting, and publication
Requirements
- PhD degree in economics with a completion date of December 2025 Summer 2026 and an academic focus on Applied Microeconomics or Applied Microeconometrics, with specializations like industrial organization, labor, health, behavioural and public economics, or other quantitative areas
- Strong knowledge of economic concepts and a range of research and quantitative skills
- Experience in programming and data analysis using Excel, Stata, Python, R, SQL, SAS, ArcGIS ArcPy, or Cloud computing platforms such as Databricks Spark, Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS
- Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to explain, economic, financial and or accounting concepts, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods
- Curious and analytical thinkers who bring creative approaches to non-standard problems
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Eagerness to learn new skills and programming languages
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership
- Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities
- Excellent time management and task prioritization skills
