Job Description
The role involves overseeing financial reporting, technical accounting, and M&A activities within a fast-growing SaaS company, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and IFRS, and leading strategic initiatives related to accounting standards and complex transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage US GAAP reporting and external financial reporting requirements
- Support IFRS and statutory reporting as needed
- Identify, research, communicate, and resolve complex accounting issues
- Lead implementation of new accounting standards and maintain global accounting policies
- Monitor and communicate updates on new accounting standards and assess their impact
- Lead or support cross-functional strategic initiatives affecting accounting
- Oversee M&A due diligence, integration, and related accounting matters
- Manage valuation exercises with third-party valuation firms
- Support complex accounting areas such as equity investments, stock-based compensation, and hedge accounting
Requirements
- Successful candidates will have the equivalent of 5 years of professional experience in finance or accounting.
- Manage the USGAAP reporting and other external reporting requirements.
- Support IFRS and statutory reporting as needed.
- Proactively identify, research, communicate, and resolve complex accounting matters.
- Lead policy initiatives, including the implementation of new accounting standards, and ensure global accounting policies are maintained and up to date.
- Continuously monitor, document, and communicate new accounting standards to the organization and determine their impact on the company.
- Lead or support cross-functional strategic initiatives ensuring accounting impacts are proactively addressed.
- Lead Financial M A due diligence, partner with Corporate Accounting to integrate these transactions, and communicate with Corporate Development and cross-functional team leads on accounting matters.
- Drive management of valuation exercises, including partnering with 3rd party valuation firms to ensure proper valuation and disclosures.
- Support complex areas including equity investments, stock-based compensation, and hedge accounting.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Have CPA certification.
- Have public accounting experience with Big 4 accounting firms.
- Have 5 years of experience in public accounting or private industry with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Possess strong leadership skills with a proven record of leading meaningful initiatives across the organization.
- Have extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of IFRS would be a plus.
- Be an expert in technical accounting issues and accounting for complex transactions.
- Experience with M A due diligence, valuations, and purchase accounting.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
- Demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex operational and accounting challenges.
- Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, current knowledge of U.S. GAAP including areas of M A, equity investments, financial reporting, and other technical accounting matters.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Effective project management skills, including the ability to think end-to-end, manage long-term projects, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with excellent soft skills and the ability to motivate and influence all levels of management.
- Attention to detail, organized, and thorough with a desire for continuous improvement.
