Job Description
The Principal Enterprise Architect at Celonis is a senior strategic role responsible for designing and overseeing the company's enterprise architecture, ensuring platform scalability, security, and modernization, while aligning technical solutions with customer business objectives and leading cross-functional teams to deliver maximum value.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and oversee the enterprise architecture, data, and cloud strategy for the customer’s IT landscape.
- Establish architectural principles, policies, and standards, and lead architecture review processes.
- Drive enterprise modernization using emerging technologies such as AI and process intelligence.
- Design complex data pipelines and integration patterns to connect disparate systems into a unified digital twin.
- Present technical designs and value propositions to senior executives, aligning with their strategic goals.
- Manage customer escalations and ensure delivery aligns with customer strategy and targets.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, data scientists, and domain experts in customer engagements.
- Coordinate between customer technical teams and product engineering to influence product development and resolve technical issues.
- Help customers establish and scale a Center of Excellence for Celonis technologies.
- Internalize customer strategies and ensure technical delivery supports their business-critical objectives.
Requirements
- 12 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture or a CTO-level role at a major software vendor.
- Mastery of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
- Expert-level SQL and Python skills for data integration.
- Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies including Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and Databricks.
- Deep understanding of SaaS ecosystems such as SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, and ServiceNow, as well as legacy on-premise architectures.
- Demonstrated experience in Agentic AI, Machine Learning workflows, and process mining methodologies.
- Strong foundation in cybersecurity posture, data privacy regulations including GDPR and CCPA, and SOC2 ISO compliance within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Experience in designing and defining overall architecture, data, and cloud strategy for enterprise platforms.
- Ability to establish architectural principles, policies, and standards, and lead or consult on Architecture Review Boards (ARB).
- Experience in driving enterprise modernization leveraging techniques like capability mapping and architecting solutions with emergent technologies such as Agentic AI and Process Intelligence Graph.
- Proficiency in designing complex data pipelines, OCPM, and integration patterns including ETL, ELT, and API ecosystems that connect disparate systems into a unified Digital Twin of the business.
- Ability to confidently present technical designs and value realizations to CIOs, CFOs, and CTOs, aligning strategic goals with technical capabilities.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders to establish program roadmaps and internalize customer strategies and targets.
- Experience in organizing and leading customer advisory boards to address industry-specific challenges and innovations.
- Proven ability to mobilize and lead multidisciplinary teams of Applied AI engineers, Data Scientists, and Domain Experts.
- Experience in ensuring engagements are properly staffed by leveraging resources from global cross-functional teams.
- Experience acting as the primary conduit between customer technical teams and Product Engineering to influence product roadmaps and resolve technical blockers.
- Experience in helping customers establish and scale a Celonis Center of Excellence (CoE), mentoring internal architects and process leads.
