Job Description
A UX Designer for Developer Experience at Canonical is responsible for designing and building tools that enhance software development, packaging, and maintenance processes, with a focus on open source, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create intuitive and efficient products that improve the overall developer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build tools to enable users to build, package, and maintain open source software
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to improve developer experience
- Support complex products through design processes and UX heuristics
- Evolve and promote design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Contribute to broader design efforts within the organization
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university or a Bachelor s or equivalent in User Experience, Design, or STEM or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
- Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology and design
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, being curious, flexible, and scientific
- Result-oriented with a drive to finish work and celebrate success
- Confidence in user research practices
- Engagement with the latest design research and innovation
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long
- UX designers should be excellent communicators who are at ease working with a complex mix of engineers, designers and executives
- Ability to present their design position with clarity and precision at cross-functional company meetings
- Confidence and enthusiasm to take on complex design challenges
- Ability to connect their design leadership to the strategic vision of the company
