A technical role focused on collaborating with hardware partners to optimize and support Ubuntu on various hardware platforms, involving debugging, system analysis, technical training, and ensuring a high-quality user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with partners on platform bring-up and troubleshoot issues
Facilitate communication between Ubuntu, firmware, and hardware engineering teams
Build and maintain relationships with OEMs, ODMs, and silicon partners
Conduct root cause analysis and reproduce technical issues
Provide timely responses and estimates for resolving technical problems
Plan, develop, and deliver technical training on Ubuntu ecosystem to partners
Design and support factory operations during production setup and runs
Requirements
Deep knowledge of the Linux system, including Linux kernel, boot process, and system-level architecture skills.
Experience with Linux debugging and resolution abilities.
Excellent time management, insightful debugging, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work closely with partners on platform bring-up, debug and prioritize issues, and escalate to engineering teams where needed.
Ability to facilitate communication between Ubuntu, firmware, and hardware engineering teams.
Experience in building and maintaining working relationships with partners.
Ability to conduct root cause analysis, collect and organize details to reproduce issues, and explain results.
Ability to provide fast response times and estimated timelines for resolving technical issues.
Experience in planning, building, and delivering Ubuntu ecosystem technical training to Canonical’s partners.
Ability to design and provide factory support during production preparation and run.
Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events, with each trip up to two weeks long.
English written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path.
Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team.
Good interpersonal skills for collaboration and customer engagements.
Ability to learn fast to work on cutting-edge technologies.
