Job Description
The Threat Intelligence Lead at Canonical is responsible for developing and executing the company's threat intelligence strategy, analyzing cyber threats targeting open source software, and collaborating with internal teams and the wider cybersecurity community to enhance security measures and establish Canonical as a thought leader in threat intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Canonical's threat intelligence strategy
- Conduct OSINT research and develop tradecraft, principles, and techniques
- Identify, track, and analyze targeted cyber threats and trends from threat actors
- Collaborate with internal teams to inform on threat activity and coordinate campaign tracking
- Contribute to the threat intelligence community and establish Canonical as a thought leader
- Advise product and engineering teams on cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies
- Work with security teams to implement and update security controls
- Identify intelligence gaps and propose new research tools and projects
- Conduct briefings for executives, stakeholders, and external customers
Requirements
- An experienced threat intelligence leader or similar with knowledge of the current open source threat landscape and computer networking infrastructure concepts.
- Highly competent with OSINT tools such as Buscador, Trace Labs OSINT VM, OSINT Framework, Maltego, Shodan, social media scraping tools, etc.
- Ability to identify, organise, catalogue, and track adversary tradecraft trends often with incomplete data.
- Experience using threat intelligence data to influence enterprise architecture or product development decisions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and tailor technical content to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long.
- Degree qualified, with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field.
- Certifications in related areas such as GOSI, SANS SEC487, SEC587, IntelTechniques OSIP, etc.
- Experience in a tech company or government military signal intelligence departments.
