A leadership role focused on developing and managing open source Linux-based automotive and industrial software solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, guiding a global engineering team, and representing Canonical in the automotive community.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the automotive engineering roadmap and strategy at Canonical
Lead and coordinate a globally distributed engineering team
Represent Canonical and Ubuntu in the automotive community, customer engagements, and standards consortia
Guide the Linux distribution and open source software strategy for automotive applications
Ensure products and processes comply with industry standards such as ISO21434, ISO26262, IEC 61508, and others
Develop skills within the team through coaching, feedback, and technical leadership
Advocate for modern, agile software development practices
Foster a collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
Requirements
Strong software engineering, Linux, and open source background
In-depth knowledge in Linux packages and embedded development
Knowledge of automotive and industry standards such as ISO21434, ISO26262, SOTIF, IEC 61508, and ideally have led product development initiatives that fulfilled compliance with one or more of the mentioned standards
Experience in C, C++, and Python programming
Practical experience in automotive, including functional safety, embedded systems, cloud, and related software trends
Experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers
Track record of timely delivery and high-quality software
Experience working in an agile development environment
Ability to build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers, coordinate, guide, and oversee their work
Ability to develop skills through coaching, feedback, and hands-on technical leadership
Ability to set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
Ability to advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices
Willingness to work from home with international travel twice a year, up to two weeks at a time, for company events
