A Software Engineer at Canonical will develop and automate Linux-based cloud infrastructure, build and enhance Ubuntu features for public cloud environments, and collaborate with global teams and partners to deliver reliable open source software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Build automated, reliable image delivery, testing, and publication pipelines
Design, develop, and integrate new features into Ubuntu for public cloud support
Collaborate with a distributed team and external partners
Write high-quality code to create new features and fix issues
Design and architect complex systems and cloud integrations
Debug issues and participate in code reviews and design discussions
Requirements
Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field
Practical experience with public clouds
Experience with at least three of the following: containers (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps automation, open source projects, APIs, Linux systems administration, Python packaging, cloud-based applications
At least experience in Python software development on Linux
Ability to build automated, highly reliable image delivery, testing, and publication pipelines
Ability to design, build, and integrate new features and enhancements into Ubuntu that support users in public clouds
Proficiency in writing high quality code to create new features
Ability to design and architect complex new systems and integrations with cloud platforms
Experience debugging issues and producing high quality code to fix them
Experience reviewing code produced by other engineers and participating in design discussions
Willingness to work from home with the possibility of global travel for 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events
Ability to collaborate proactively with a distributed team and engage with open source community and commercial partners
