A Site Reliability Engineering Manager responsible for leading a high-performance, distributed team in implementing DevOps and cloud-native operations, ensuring the delivery of reliable, automated services at scale for Ubuntu and Canonical's open-source platform.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a high-performance team in daily agile DevOps practices
Coordinate and drive internal projects related to operations and engineering
Mentor engineers to improve their skills and team capabilities
Implement structured engineering and operations processes
Ensure team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
Work to meet service level agreements with global customer deployments
Deliver quality managed services in a timely and consistent manner
Represent the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams
Requirements
Proven experience of software delivery using infrastructure as code
Proven experience managing devops teams for SaaS or similar offerings
Understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
Experience with cloud topologies and technologies
Ability to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long
Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations
Experience as a Linux and operations expert
Ability to lead a team in daily agile devops practices
Experience managing a high-performance team
Strong skills in operations management, software engineering, and product development
Excellent team leadership and management skills
Effective representation of the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams
Ability to organize, coordinate, and drive internal projects
Ability to mentor engineers to improve their skills
Ability to identify and measure team health indicators
Experience implementing structured engineering and operations processes
Experience ensuring proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
Experience working with the latest technologies in a fast-paced engineering environment
Experience working with or managing distributed teams (preferred but not mandatory)
Experience with Ubuntu system administration (preferred but not mandatory)
