A senior design manager role focused on leading the infrastructure design team at Canonical, responsible for creating and improving tools and experiences for cloud, software distribution, and security, while collaborating with engineering and open source communities in a remote, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review the work of the design team for quality
Support the professional growth of individual designers
Improve operational workflows and collaboration processes
Define and validate design outcomes with stakeholders, especially engineering
Evolve design systems and guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency
Coordinate with design leadership to develop best practices
Facilitate knowledge sharing and strengthen team culture
Engage with the open source community to promote the value of design work
Manage a team creating tools for developers and cloud engineers
Ensure timely delivery of design projects and meet deadlines
Requirements
A portfolio demonstrating outstanding quality in UX design and savviness in technology
Exceptional educational achievements in design or related behavioral science discipline
Full lifecycle experience from user needs discovery through validation and implementation guidance
Experience managing a team that interacts with technical stakeholders
Commitment to transparent project delivery and owning team deadlines
Familiarity with quantitative optimisation approaches
Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
