The Revenue Accounting Manager at Canonical is responsible for overseeing revenue recognition processes, systems automation, and reporting, working across various teams to ensure accurate and compliant revenue accounting in a fast-growing, technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design standard contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition.
Improve and automate revenue processes and configurations in NetSuite and related systems.
Review and assess the revenue impact of non-standard contracts and new products.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of revenue and systems accounting professionals.
Assist in month-end revenue closing activities, including reconciliations and fluctuation analysis.
Maintain effective internal controls over revenue transactions and reporting.
Research and prepare accounting memos on significant revenue recognition and policy issues.
Liaise with external auditors on order-to-cash and revenue recognition matters.
Requirements
A professional qualification in accounting such as CPA, CA, or equivalent with excellent technical accounting skills and IFRS experience
An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path
Detailed understanding of IFRS 15 and relevant rules related to SaaS and services revenue recognition
Experience in software licensing, subscription, and services revenue accounting and operations
Experience driving revenue recognition and scaling accounting processes in a high-growth environment
Experience with ERP systems, Rev Rec, CRM, CPQ, and other relevant software categories, with NetSuite and Salesforce preferred
Leadership or management responsibility experience, including leading, mentoring, and developing a team of revenue accounting and systems accounting professionals
Experience in a multi-country, multi-currency operations and tax environment
Professional written and spoken English skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
Ability to travel twice a year for company events, up to two weeks long
