Job Description
A Python developer role at Canonical involving the creation and maintenance of high-quality, open-source software across various platforms, with opportunities for collaboration, technical leadership, and community engagement in a remote, globally distributed environment.
Key Responsibilities

Requirements
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university or a compelling narrative about an alternative path.
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or equivalent experience demonstrating the necessary skills.
- Experience writing thoroughly designed, modern, maintainable Python code.
- Experience with Linux Debian or Ubuntu preferred.
- Professional written and spoken English.
- Ability to write high-quality, well-designed, and well-tested Python software.
- Ability to collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team.
- Display technical leadership at Canonical and in open-source communities.
- Debug issues and produce high-quality code to fix them.
- Contribute to technical documentation with the aim to make it the best of its kind.
- Ability to work from home with the flexibility to travel twice a year for company events, each trip up to two weeks.
- Well-organized, self-starting, and able to deliver work to schedule.
- Professional manner interacting with colleagues, partners, and community.
- Conscientiousness and detail orientation, with a focus on performance.
- Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to display technical leadership and contribute to a broad range of technologies.
- Experience with container technologies such as LXD, Docker, and Kubernetes (preferred but not mandatory).
- Understanding of build systems and toolchains, including for cross-compilation (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with additional programming languages such as Golang, Rust, C, or C++ (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with web or Flutter front-end development (preferred but not mandatory).
- REST and gRPC API experience (preferred but not mandatory).
- SQL and NoSQL data store expertise (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with public clouds or OpenStack (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with Debian or Ubuntu packaging (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with systems programming or scalable web services (preferred but not mandatory).
- Performance engineering and security experience (preferred but not mandatory).
