A Project Manager at Canonical is responsible for overseeing the delivery of complex customer-facing projects involving Ubuntu embedded systems across various devices, ensuring successful project execution, stakeholder communication, and technical coordination in a remote, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage large, complex customer-facing projects from initiation to completion
Coordinate project delivery between engineering teams and customers
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and statements of work
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within resources
Manage project risks and mitigate issues to achieve delivery goals
Communicate regularly with clients and internal stakeholders on project status
Oversee delivery of engineering services, including custom board enablement and Ubuntu image deployment
Manage third-party deliverables and vendor relationships
Identify and address engineering requests outside existing contracts
Advocate for appropriate Canonical technologies to customers
Requirements
Solid project management experience in delivering engineering services to customers managing software development teams and field engineers
Extensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources, preferably with resources in Asia, Europe, and the Americas
Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
Good knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community, and understanding of computer architecture
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, in English
Strong leader and problem solver with extensive experience building successful internal and external partnerships and effective working relationships with demanding project sponsors in complex organizational environments
PMP, PMI, or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred
Ability to work non-standard work hours in support of a worldwide sales and project team
Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
