A project management role responsible for coordinating and delivering complex customer-facing projects involving Ubuntu embedded systems across various devices, ensuring successful project execution, stakeholder communication, and technical collaboration in a remote, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full lifecycle of complex customer-facing projects related to Ubuntu embedded systems
Coordinate with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images
Develop and maintain project statements of work, schedules, and plans
Ensure project delivery within scope, time, and resources, managing risks and mitigation plans
Act as primary liaison between Canonical teams and customers, maintaining communication and relationships
Oversee delivery schedules of third-party deliverables and technical issue resolution
Identify and address custom engineering requests outside existing contracts
Advocate for Canonical technologies and solutions to customers
Support projects across different time zones and work hours as needed
Requirements
Solid project management experience in delivering engineering services to customers managing software development teams and field engineers
Extensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources, preferably with resources in Asia, Europe, and the Americas
Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
Good knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community, and understanding of computer architecture
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, in English
Strong leader and problem solver with extensive experience building successful internal and external partnerships and effective working relationships with demanding project sponsors in complex organizational environments
Ability to work non-standard work hours in support of a worldwide sales and project team
Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
Ability to manage projects through their complete life cycle and ensure that overall goals for both Canonical and the client are met
Experience in successfully delivering engineering professional services for assigned projects
Experience working with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images to customers
Experience in drafting and maintaining project-specific schedules and project plans
Experience in obtaining client agreement to the project schedule and work items
Experience in managing project risk mitigation and plans
Experience in driving technical issues to reach desired delivery outcomes
Experience in maintaining daily and weekly communication with clients and internal stakeholders
Experience in managing delivery schedule of critical third-party deliverables
Ability to identify custom engineering requests outside existing business contracts
Willingness to support different time zones and work non-traditional hours as required
