Job Description

A Product Marketing Manager at Canonical is responsible for developing and executing go-to-market strategies, crafting compelling messaging, and leading marketing campaigns to promote open source products like Ubuntu, while collaborating cross-functionally to drive product awareness, adoption, and customer engagement in a global, remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute go-to-market (GTM) strategies for products
  • Lead messaging and positioning efforts to differentiate products in the market
  • Create content such as website copy, whitepapers, blogs, and sales enablement materials
  • Collaborate with regional marketing teams to implement integrated marketing campaigns
  • Launch new products and features, driving awareness and adoption
  • Conduct competitive analysis and adjust positioning based on market trends
  • Support customer engagement and growth strategies, including upselling and cross-selling
  • Plan and execute global events, webinars, and community meetups aligned with GTM priorities

Requirements

  • Develop and execute go-to-market (GTM) strategies for a range of products, including leading messaging and positioning efforts to ensure products stand out in a competitive market.
  • Lead content planning with product managers, including website copy, whitepapers, blogs, and sales enablement materials.
  • Collaborate on marketing campaigns with regional marketing teams to execute integrated campaigns that drive pipeline growth.
  • Launch new products and features by leading cross-functional teams to drive awareness and adoption.
  • Run competitive analysis to stay ahead of market trends and evolve product positioning accordingly.
  • Support the customer success team on strategies to drive customer engagement and growth, including upselling and cross-selling across the customer base.
  • Plan and execute global events, live webinars, and community meetups that align with GTM priorities.
  • Possess a passion for technology and open source, with enthusiasm for innovation, software, and community-driven development.
  • Have strong storytelling skills to craft messaging that resonates with both technical and business audiences.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset, thriving on experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Have experience in product marketing for enterprise software, cloud, DevOps, or open-source solutions (preferred).
  • Have experience with demand generation, understanding how to translate GTM strategies into pipeline growth (preferred).
  • Be comfortable working cross-functionally with product, sales, partners, and marketing teams.
  • Possess a data-driven mindset, using insights to refine strategies and improve performance (nice-to-have).
