Job Description
The Data Center Infrastructure Engineer at Canonical is responsible for managing and maintaining the company's automated server lab, ensuring hardware and network configurations are optimized for Ubuntu certification testing, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve data center operations using automation and scripting skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and operate the automated server and network hardware lab in Toronto.
- Maintain accurate inventory and physical organization of data center hardware.
- Install, configure, and onboard new hardware components.
- Use software tools to deploy, configure, and update servers and network switches.
- Exercise and test MAAS functionality through integrations with testing and scheduling software.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues within the data center environment.
- Develop and enhance automation scripts and tools using Python to improve data center operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware specialists, kernel engineers, and certification teams.
Requirements
- A STEM Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Excellent organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Data centre experience
- Linux Administration experience
- Python programming experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
- Ability to work with a globally distributed team of passionate engineers
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and preferably university
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
