This role involves utilizing software engineering and cryptography expertise to enhance the security and compliance of Ubuntu through developing cryptographic components, automation tools, and security benchmarks, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure robust security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain the security foundation of Ubuntu to ensure compliance with international standards such as FIPS 140-3 and Common Criteria
Develop and enhance cryptographic components and automation tools for security hardening and compliance auditing
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop security benchmarks, test security modules, and address security gaps
Contribute to upstream open source projects and work with kernel and security teams to implement security features
Engage in communication and collaboration to improve security posture and deliver high-quality security solutions
Requirements
Hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging
Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including prior experience with C development, and the ability to demonstrate such
Hands-on experience with Linux system administration and shell scripting
Demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals
Direct experience writing secure code and implementing best practices
Significant development experience working with open source libraries
Excellent verbal and written communications skills to enable efficient collaboration with internal and external partners in a remote-first environment
