Job Description
A product management role at Canonical involving leading the development and lifecycle of open source software products across various domains such as Ubuntu, AI/ML, IoT, cloud, and more, with a focus on strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, market analysis, and driving product vision to meet business and user needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the product development lifecycle, including setting priorities and goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as engineering, design, marketing, and sales
- Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities
- Communicate product vision, status updates, and key decisions to ensure alignment
- Conduct usability testing and iterate on the product to improve user experience
- Develop go-to-market strategies, create product documentation, and provide training
- Oversee the work of a product line to ensure strategy and execution consistency
- Facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts within teams and departments
Requirements
- Understanding of Linux and the wider open source software community
- Understanding of computer architecture, application development, datacenters, cloud or devices
- Exceptional academic results at high school and university
- Strong work ethic, and personal interests aligned with the open source movement
- Curiosity, and the habit of continuous learning
- Strong sense of ownership
- Problem solving and the ability to innovate
- Outstanding communications skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multiple projects or product lines while maintaining focus on key priorities
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 4 times a year for company events up to two weeks long
