Job Description
A technical engineering manager role focused on leading the development and delivery of embedded Linux system software for IoT and other devices, overseeing a distributed team, and driving innovation in secure, reliable, and open source solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and build a distributed engineering team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development
- Directly contribute to the design and implementation of Ubuntu Core system software across multiple CPU architectures
- Prioritize requests, plan the development roadmap, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software
- Collaborate with stakeholders, other engineering teams, and senior management to set expectations and coordinate efforts
- Promote and implement modern, agile software development practices within the team
- Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
- Participate in organizational leadership and collaborate with other leaders to drive strategic initiatives
Requirements
- Demonstrated competencies in embedded software development
- Strong skills in Golang, C and Shell
- A solid understanding of Linux and a modern GNU Linux distribution, Debian or Ubuntu preferred
- Experience in planning and executing to deliver high quality software in a timely manner
- Solid experience working in an agile development environment
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
