Job Description
A leadership role responsible for managing and developing a security engineering team focused on enhancing the security of the Ubuntu platform, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with industry partners to address cryptography and system hardening efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of security engineers, providing coaching, mentorship, and career guidance
- Implement disciplined engineering processes and measure team health indicators
- Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Develop and promote best engineering and organizational practices
- Plan and manage progress on security-related goals and projects
- Support products and customers in meeting strict security requirements such as FIPS, CIS, STIG, FedRAMP, and CRA
- Collaborate with industry partners on cryptography modules FIPS 140 and system hardening efforts
Requirements
- Lead and develop a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior, including coaching, mentoring, and offering career development feedback.
- Identify and measure team health indicators.
- Implement disciplined engineering processes.
- Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices.
- Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects.
- Support products and customers to meet strict product security requirements such as FIPS, CIS, STIG, FedRAMP, and the new CRA.
- Support the work addressing cryptography modules FIPS 140 and system hardening efforts with industry partners including CIS and DISA.
- Possess an exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
- Hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or demonstrate a compelling narrative about an alternative educational or career path.
- Have drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Have a love of developing and growing people, with a proven track record of doing so.
- Be organized and able to ensure your team delivers timely, high-quality results.
- Maintain a professional manner when interacting with colleagues, partners, and the community.
- Have prior experience working on FIPS Common Criteria certified products and in-depth knowledge of the underlying standards.
- Have prior experience working directly with DISA-STIG or CIS benchmarks, including related audit remediation tooling such as Compliance as Code.
- Be knowledgeable and passionate about software and application security.
- Have solid experience working in an agile development environment.
- Demonstrate a drive for continual learning.
- Build trust, relationships, and confidence.
- Be result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- Be able to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weeks each.
