Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager for IAM to lead the development of secure, high-performance identity and access management services using Go and Python, working on distributed systems, cloud, and open source projects to enhance access solutions across their products.
Key Responsibilities
Build high-performing Go and Python services for identity and access management solutions.
Define the technical vision for IAM products in collaboration with product management.
Manage the software development lifecycle, including designing, coding, testing, and reviewing software.
Lead and coach a software engineering team, including hiring and performance management.
Work with upstream open source projects and internal teams to deliver high-quality, deployable software.
Ensure software security, performance, and scalability in distributed systems environments.
Participate in industry events, hackfests, webinars, and open source community engagement.
Requirements
Proven experience hiring and leading a high performance software engineering team
Experience with Go and Python software development
Ability to design and implement complex, distributed systems
Experience working with container technology and Kubernetes
Strong understanding of software infrastructure security and performance
Experience designing and or operating large scale distributed systems
Knowledge of identity and access management technologies and standards is desirable but not essential
Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path
Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
